<p>Jada Pinkett has said that when rumors of her potential divorce from Will Smith were swirling, comedian Chris Rock reportedly asked her out on a date. <p>“I think every summer all the reports would come out that me and Will were getting a divorce,” Jada said to PEOPLE. “And Chris, this particular summer, he believed that we were divorcing. I got a call from him, and he essentially said, “I’d love to take you out.” I questioned, “What do you mean?” ‘Well, aren’t you and Will getting a divorce,’ he said. I said, “No.” These are simply rumors, Chris. He was horrified. He then apologized sincerely, and that was all.</p>
<p>Jada recently said that she and Will have been quietly apart for the last seven years even though they are not divorced. “I think just not being ready yet, still trying to figure out between the two of us how to be in partnership and in regards to how do we present that to people,” Jada said in a recent interview with Today co-anchor Hoda Kotb of NBC News. And we hadn’t made the connection.</p>
<p>The actress remarked, “There are a number of reasons why it split. “I believe that by the year 2016, we had just given up trying. I believe that we were both mired in our idealized conceptions of one other.</p>
<p>Jada said that she had thought about getting a divorce but eventually decided against it. I swore there would never be a justification for us to get divorced, she continued. “I just haven’t been able to break that promise that we will work through whatever,” she said.</p>
