<p>When the Hero World Challenge (HWC) gets underway here on Thursday, the world’s best players will be playing some serious business in the laid-back Bahamas.</p>

<p>The unofficial PGA Tour event’s tournament host, a 15-time major champion, still enjoys competing and is “curious” to see how he does against the best in the field.</p>
<p>The best players in the world of golf have been drawn to the HWC throughout the years, and this year is no exception.</p>
<p>Among the 20 players playing in the tournament are world number one Scottie Scheffeler, two-time reigning champion Viktor Hovland, 2014 winner Jordan Spieth, Colin Morikawa, and Xander Schauffele.</p>
<p>Rickie Fowler, the 2017 winner, Justin Thomas, and Woods are the three players exempt from the competition. It is a no-cut event because of the choose field.</p>
<p>The stakes are considerable, even if the players utilize this competition as a launching pad for the next season.</p>
<p>Hero MotoCorp chairman Pawan Munjal said that the prize money would rise by USD one million this year, to USD 4.5 million, so they will be even greater. In 2024, it will be increased to USD five million. There will also be an awarding of OWGR (global ranking) points.</p>
<p>At the pre-tournament briefing, Woods, who was seated next to Munjal, predicted that the prize money rise would further boost interest in the competition. The Tiger Woods Foundation profits from the event as well.</p>
<p>“With the event here at Albany and what we’ve done here over the years, the increase in prize money just elevates this event and draws the world’s best players.” We’ve made an effort to make this event unique based on the input we’ve received.</p>
<p>“These guys have been playing a lot towards the end of the year, so we want to make this the best week possible by bringing them down here and having a blast.”</p>
<p>“I believe that Hero’s participation in this tournament has raised the bar for it. We can’t wait to carry on that partnership till 2025,” the 47-year-old said.</p>
<p>Regarding his return, Woods said that he is excited to put his aging body to the test over the course of four days and that it feels fantastic.</p>
<p>Because I haven’t played in a long, my game seems rusty. My subtalar region was fused. Since I haven’t played or competed in a while, I’m eager to do so and am as interested in the outcome as the rest of you are.</p>
<p>“I can assure you that my ankle discomfort is not at all what it was at Augusta or before. My ankle is OK, but other portions are bearing the brunt of the strain, so I’m a bit more uncomfortable in other places. Thus, the procedure went well, according to Woods.</p>
<p>Will Zalatoris will be returning from an injury, much like Woods. The 27-year-old’s back issue forced him to miss the Masters, and the HWC will be his first competition since March.</p>
<p>“The last seven months have been intriguing. You know, feeling like your back gives out thirty minutes before your tee time at Augusta Golf Resort is kind of a golfer’s worst nightmare.</p>
<p>“No, it’s been a game of patience,” It’s been difficult; individuals who have had similar things have given me a lot of excellent advise, telling me to take my time since nobody has ever recovered from an injury that took too long,” Zalatoris said.</p>
<p>At the Albany Golf Course, anticipate big scores if the weather remains clear.</p>
